Hooray! Football is back as York City hit Tadcaster

It seems a long while since we watched Manchester United and Chelsea take those penalties - and, to be quite honest, FootballCynic has forgotten who won already. If you believe the BBC website, Tuesday 8th July brings us the first friendly of the season - Tadcaster Albion v York City. This looks a fascinating local derby as the mighty York City, formerly one of a select band of league teams whose name starts and ends with the same letter, visit Koolsport Northern Counties East Division One team, Tadcaster Albion. Tadcaster Albion are known as The Brewers, so we can expect the game to be used as a way to work off some of that summer beer gut. However, if you can wait one more night, the weirdly named Quorn take on Leicester City. Far from being a modern substitute for the real thing, Quorn date pack to 1907 - and what a fine bunch they looked back then. You can see the headline already - Foxes make minced meat of Quorn.
