UEFA to expand Euro Championship to 128 countries

Rumours abound that the Euro Championship will be extended to 24 teams after a proposal by Scotland and Ireland was warmly received. The Scottish FA Chief Executive Gordon "And Smith must score" Smith denied that it was solely to give nations like Scotland more chance of qualifying. He said "It will make it easier for other countries such as England who failed to qualify for Euro 2008". It seems that a counter-proposal by the Isle of Wight is looking to extend the tournament to 128 countries so that, as "And Smith must score" puts it "the excitement of the groups will go on for longer". We all look forward to Iceland slogging it out with Guernsey in Group 31.
