From China to Andorra via Yeovil
On 14 April 2004, the most amazing friendly took place. Andorra (population just under 72,000) played at home to China. Amusingly, if you google China population, you are told that the population is the rather precise estimate of 1,330,044,544 in July 2008 (it fails to tell you the precise moment in July 2008, which is, arguably, important). The game ended in a 0-0 draw and, of course, took place in Spain.
This week, there are the usual mismatches, typified by Liechtenstein heading to Germany and Azerbaijan heading to Russia. However, the arrival of the Iraqi national team in South Korea looks an interesting game, although Yeovil Town v Swindon Town is the most exciting this weekend, as they contest the Division 1 relegation derby in cider country.
Meanwhile, Andorra full national team have a week off, but their under 21s take on Romania. By FootballCynic’s calculations, the odds of playing for Andorra 21s if you are an Andorran male, who is aged between 18 and 21, are only 50-1.
