A common problem
Bromley and Wimbledon have a number of things in common - one of which is, in fact, a common. They also both have a theatre, but at Bromley's "theatre of dreams", there was much drama when Bromley faced AFC Wimbledon in the Blue Square South match on Easter Monday. AFC Wimbledon were seconds away from another 3 points, which would have given them a 5-point lead at the top with two games to go. Following an injury to AFC Wimbledon's Jay, the Wimbledon team kicked the ball out of play only to watch in disbelief as Ryan Hall of Bromley scored with a lob from the halfway line after a quickly-taken throw. AFC Wimbledon's players persuaded the referee to ask Bromley's management to allow a "walk-in" goal, but they refused due to an earlier incident when a bottle was thrown.
The travelling Wombles' fans were furious, but the result stood at 2-2 as full time followed the goal. Now, AFC Wimbledon have to travel to second-placed Hampton & Richmond, knowing that a defeat could ruin their chances of a rise to the Blue Square Premier. Needless to say, the AFC Wimbledon's fans are somewhat heated about this - and even edited Bromley's Wikipedia entry to contain two words.
