In a league of their own

As titles are settled in all the leagues around the country, Dover Athletic of the Ryman Premier can claim to be the team to win their league by the biggest margin - a massive 22 points from second placed Staines Town. In second place, it was Waterloo Dock playing in the Liverpool County Premier (we're not sure why it is called 'County' when Liverpool is not a county) with an impressive margin of 21 points over Old Xaverians in a league of 15 teams.

It's good to see Dover Athletic on the way back up after a difficult few years at The Crabble. In 1997, they featured in the Conference, but financial disasters struck and the Club tumbled downwards. Recent managers include Neville Southall and Clive Walker, but it is now Andy Hessenthaler who has taken the reins. It's not been a good year for coastal teams (ask Southampton fans), but at Dover Athletic, things seem to be on the way up.
