The Tops are bottom
It is always sad to see a team at this stage of the season in bottom place without a point. This season, Coulsdon United have lost all 21 games in the Combined Counties Division 1. The team, known affectionately as The Tops, are having a bad time. If you go to their website, you see a glimmer of hope as the headline news tells the world that "Many new faces have joined the cause to compliment Terry Russell as Manager and a new structure has been set up with a management team of very experienced and qualified people". It's only when you realise that the news was last updated in July 2009 that you can see that The Tops are spinning.
In their last game, Coulsdon United almost ripped up the form book when they lost 2-1 to Crescent Rovers at home. Their next game is at home to struggling Croydon Municipal, who are a mere 19 points ahead. So, why not starting cheering this team on - there may be a new management team in place by now. And, anyway, there is plenty of room in the stand if you want to come along (see below).

Well, this is some coincidence, Cynic. I was at a local wine bar with Lady Knobhead yesterday and the subject of Coulsdon came up. I merely commented that a young lady sitting at another table looked a bit like a lady I was courting for some time who came from Coulsdon. Lady Knobhead was taken back that I remembered her so clearly and started to show the flaring nostrils (something Lady Knobhead is prone to at tense moments). Anyway, to cut a long story short it transpired that the young lady in question came from Croydon and that her father was born in Coulsdon. So, frankly, I hope Couldson gave Croydon Municipal a good hiding.(FootballCynic writes: Great news! 3-3 - Coulsdon United's first point. FootballCynic inspired them).

Picking thru your blog you seem to focus on failure. It may not have crossed your mind but some teams have to fail. I do not support Couldson united but i do support a similar team - no need for a mention otherwise you will come and find in the crowd of 120-odd that come to most games. I think enjoy picking on these failng teams and shwoing the world how bad they look. Not everyone supports Manchester Utd arsenal or chelsea or whoever you support and many of these clubs are ran by people who give a lot ot their club and to socuiety as one. You should reeally look harder at what you type as you sit there at your computer rejoicing in another loss for some club. Yes, being funny is fine, but ridiculing the likes of Coulsdon Town is not.(FootballCynic writes: Great post, Range Rover, presumably posted due to a virus in the car's on-board computer. FootballCynic could not have put it better himself - well, at least, the bits he follows. Keep up the good work and soon we will have a socuiety (is that some sort of soccer society) as one. You should note, however, that your reference to Coulsdon Town is out of date. Coulsdon Town merged with the splendidly named, Monotype FC, to become Coulsdon United)
