No more Easton promise
In April, Easton United from the Isle of Portland celebrated winning the Dorset Senior League when they beat rivals Witchampton United in the final game. Their promotion to the Dorset Premier League has been denied though and the club has consequently decided to fold. Easton United are linked to the local Young Offenders Institute. Manager Chris Wilson, whose wife Nikki was the club secretary, left to join Chickerell United as their new boss and no-one has been found to take on the club since. It seems that changing in the prison and travelling to the ground has helped to bring an end to Easton United. Giles Kilshaw-Fall, secretary of the Dorset Premier League, explained “the distance and logistics” of that was what cost United their place among Dorset’s leading clubs. So it's no fixtures with Hamworthy Recreation, Chickerell United and local rivals Portland United this season - indeed, there is no more Easton United.
