Rye grin (perhaps) but the truth

FootballCynic recently told the world about Rye United FC and the problems it had with a path near its pitch. (Rye Smile article) Of course, we now have the benefit of Mr (or Ms) Anonymous, who has put the record straight :

Interesting comments re the path.

Just to provide a balanced view;

The Rye Cricket Salts are owned by Rother District Council. The path was built on their land without planning permission. Rother District Council have instructed that the path be relocated as per their instructions.

Hopefully no football club thinks it is beyond the rule of the law.

FootballCynic is very grateful for this information but was unaware that football clubs weren't above the law.

    Lady Knobhead and I used to love coming to Rye in our youth though sadly I never did see Rye United. A nice walk on Camber Sands and then cream tea in the afternoon. It saddens me to see things are - well - awry.

    Mr or Ms Anonymous states that he or she wishes to set the record straight but surely the football club is important to the town. Is Mr or Ms Anoymous a town councillor with nothing better to do than to sound important? Is he angry that his building firm was not contracted to build the path? I think there is more to this and it would be interesting to know the part Mr or Ms Anonymous plays in this little local farce. If he wants to set the record straight, then tell us who you are, Sir or Madam. They're a sympathetic lot here on www.footballcynic.com and speaking from experience Mr FootballCynic himself would be most understanding of your viewpoint. Maybe we can even mediators in this dispute. If you wish I could ask Lady Knobhead who has all the right credentials to ajudicate. On the other hand she may come down to Rye and demand free cream teas. If we can help.....

    (FootballCynic writes: This is a most generous offer by Lady Knobhead to help to settle this dispute. It sounds as though we need to hear the response from Mr or Ms Anonymous. For the record, Rye United started well yesterday winning 2-0 at Selsey)

    And so it rages on........More comments.....

    All very mysterous to me. Seems like a can of worms down there on the south coast. Best place keep out of this one. (FootballCynic writes: It's only a path. Surely, no one can so excited over a path)
