What's it all about, Alfie?

It's been a tough week for fans of Ilkeston Town. The Club was wound up in the High Court this week over an unpaid tax bill of a mere £50,000, so that The Robins' fans are without a nest. To make matters worse rivals, Alfreton Town, have offered Ilkeston Town fans the chance to use their season tickets at their games instead. Now, it's hard to imagine how Man City fans would feel if their club went bust, but would they really want to go and watch Sir Alex's men with their light blue scarf round their neck? Norwich City fans, of course, might feel differently as they already own a yellow and green scarf.

There's talk in Ilkeston of meetings to resurrect the club. Let's hope football soon returns to Ilkeston Town. Do Ilkeston Town's fans really want to end up at the strangely named Impact Arena, which sounds more like a venue for Gladiators? Below, the New Manor Ground, the home of Ilkeston Town.

Respectfully this club has been mismanaged and they are paying the price. We are all sad to see ITFC go but whether a phoenix can rise from the ashes remains to be seen (FootballCynic writes: And just 2 days of John Terry's salary could have saved the club too)

Careful how you tread here - Matlock Town are known as The Gladiators......we would not take kindly to be connected with that lot. (FootballCynic writes: No offence intended, Sir. Fancy having the name Matt Lock when you (presumably) support Matlock Town. There must be more people with names like you out there)
