Hodgson's Choice
It was a close shave on Saturday at Anfield as Tom Schick and George Gillett saw their beloved soccer team, Liverpool, win a relegation-battling point against Sunderland. Their orders to manager, Roy Hodgson, this season are to bring a trophy to Anfield.
For Roy, this has been a tall order. With a team of no hopers, Roy has decided to field weakened teams, so that his squad is ready to brush aside all-comers in the Johnstones Paint Trophy.
Speaking exclusively to Tom and George after the game, FootballCynic learnt that Schick and Gillett were not leaving Liverpool to take over The Blades of Sheffield United. Further, Tom was sure that Liverpool had entered the Johnstones Paint Trophy and confirmed that the team that Hodgson put out against Sunderland was weakened as they rested their stars for the Johnstones Paint. Rumours abound that Schick and Gillett may seek the services of Howard Wilkinson if things don’t improve soon, but Roy Hodgson appeared to be foaming at the mouth as he told FootballCynic that the players would soon gel..

Cutting stuff. Razor Ruddock will join the backroom staff soon. (FootballCynic writes: I suppose it would reduce the risk of relegation - you could call him Safety Razor)

Everyone knew that Liverpool were a poor side before the season started. I cant for the life of me see why Hodgy left Fulham where he could do no wrong to join an ailing club. Money - I suppose. (FootballCynic writes: Dear Mr Hercules Antidote, how can you accuse dear old Uncle Roy of being guilty of chasing the money)
