Getting to the bottom of things

Ramsbottom United of the North West Counties League are in good form this season. Indeed, they are nowhere near the bottom as they stand in third place behind New Mills and Winsford United. Last week, The Rams showed their place in the Animal Kingdom when they defeated Formby, known as The Squirrels, 3-1 at home. The story would be even better if Formby had Claude Makelele in midfield playing his ukulele singing “When I’m cleaning windows”. Instead, the game erupted with five minutes left after a tough tackle on a Squirrel in front of the benches. The resulting fracas saw two players dismissed and three of the management carded as skirmishes broke out. Will the battering Rams push on and get to the top of the league? We will see.
