Hopefully not The Last Waltz for FC Mazembe Englebert

Our African correspondent has excitedly drawn FootballCynic's attention to the FIFA Club World Cup Quarter Final match in Congo between TP Mazembe Englebert and their Mexican opponents, Pachuca, tomorrow. The TP stands for "Tout Puissant", which means all powerful for those without schoolboy French. The club has an interesting history too. It was formed in 1939 by Benedictine Monks under the name of Holy Georges for those who did not join the priesthood. The club was later renamed as Holy Paul until a local tyre manufacturer sponsored the team whereupon the club was re-christened or, perhaps, remoulded as FC Englebert. TP was added when they won the Congolese league for the first time and now with Mazembe in their ever-changing name, they are on edge of the big time. So, best of luck to the team in Newcastle United kit. FootballCynic rather likes the Austrian influences in Congo and the thigh-slapping performed by the front row in the picture below.

Been away and just seen this. Is it me or does the guy and the front on the right as we look at it have knee bandages and slippers?? (FootballCynic writes: Well, of course, you are right, Danielle. There's something strange about the guy with the pennant too.)

What is the relevance of that pennant? Is it a Germane Pennant? (FootballCynic writes: FootballCynic agrees that it is germane. In fact, FootballCynic is a Germane Agreer)

FootballCynic reminds us Pacacha were the oppo - is it relevant that they are the enemy - if it is then it is germane defoe. (FootballCynic writes: Pachuca, you mean, which is Spanish for appalling puns)
