Ardley breaking into a sweat

It all looked to be plain sailing for Ardley United, the leaders of the Hellenic Premier League, a few weeks ago. Having suffered two recent defeats though, the Oxfordshire-based club now have four games left against other contenders to seal both the title and promotion. With fixtures against Wokingham & Emmbrook, Highworth Town, second-placed Wantage Town and, finally, third-placed Slimbridge, it’s going to be a tough time for the club with no nickname.

Managed by Kevin Brock, the former Oxford United and Newcastle United player, the 40-odd faithful will be hoping that it doesn’t go down to the wire. Let’s hope that major sponsors, Bicester Tyre & Exhaust, do not make Brock’s men think they are too tired and exhausted to finish the job.

Good pun on Ardley but who cares about Ardley. I am surprised it is as many as 40. (FootballCynic writes: And how many would be interested in Barrow, would you say?)

If Brock is boss, you can expect some fireworks if they fail (FootballCynic writes: You've passed the test to get a job at FootballCynic HQ. Another wonderful pun)
