Bowled over by Thomas the Tank Engine

Vickerstown CCFC play in the West Lancashire Premier Division. The CC in their name stands for Cricket Club, which makes their full name Vickerstown Cricket Club Football Club. Does the local cricket club play under the name of Vickerstown FCCC?

It has been a decent season for the club, currently sitting in sixth place. What’s even more interesting about Vickerstown is that they not only play on the Isle of Walney just off Barrow in Furness, but, more importantly, it is the place on which Thomas the Tank Engine was based.

So, with the weight of the Reverend Awdry and a cricket club on their shoulders, Vickerstown CCFC will be looking to be shunting up the West Lancashire League table, although tomorrow’s game against Burnley United has been called off already.

Yes a special post for me from your fav Barrow poster! Ive seen Vickerstown play and you are quite right about the T the T reference. Still, they live in Barrow's shadow a bit - the mighty Barrow FC that is. (FootballCynic writes: Ah, but are Barrow again good at cricket?)
