Time for Bucks to buck up

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League is a league where Buxton seem to be coming unstuck. The league is topped by former big time club, Chester, while the rebels at FC United of Manchester are hovering around the play off places.

For Buxton, it’s been a tough season as they try to peg back the six points they need from their two games in hand over Mickleover Sports to avoid the drop. With a new manager, Martin McIntosh, at the helm, they will be looking for a win today over Kendal Town, but it won’t be a piece of cake.

Kendal Town are above halfway and with the next match at Chester, it’s going to be tough time for The Bucks of Buxton. Leading scorer, Mark Reed, banged in his 200th goal for the club during the week to help Buxton reach the Derbyshire Cup Final, but league points are desperately needed. Despite scoring in each of their last 9 league games, they only managed one win when they beat fellow strugglers, Whitby Town, 4-3 before Christmas.

As the highest ground in the pyramid, Buxton will be looking to get to a higher place in the league. FootballCynic predicts a home win today though for Buxton.
